In the puppy and beginner classes you can expect to learn how to teach your dog to walk on a loose leash, heel on leash, return to you when called, sit and lay down on cammand as well as stay in the sit and down positions. In the advanced beginner class you polish the skills from the beginner level and learn a stand for exam, front and finish. When a front command is used the dog is expected to return to his handler and sit in front. With the finish command, the dog is expected to go from the front position to a heel position and sit. The higher level of classes in obedience are Novice, Open and Utility. In these classes your team relationship continues to develop between you and your dog as you begin to get ready for competitive obedience. These classes will take you through jumping, retrieving, scent discrimination, commands through hand signals and extended Stay control, as well as obedience trial and ring procedures. |
